Collaboration for the offline worker has always been a challenge. Personally, I was a big fan of the Lotus Notes model of syndicated databases to ensure data synchronization for offline use. Unfortunately, Lotus had a terrible user interface and a poor marketing message. Microsoft's recent acquisition of Groove and the inclusion of Groove's founder Ray Ozzie (the original brain behind Lotus Notes) into the Microsoft leadership team is a great move on their part...I'd expect to see Groove tightly integrated into the next version of Microsoft Office (Office 12).
Brian,
We've developed a media distribution technology that is an aid to collaboration, but incorporates security, scalability and a variety of interface options as well.
I'd very much appreciate your opinion on our current offering, if you wouldn't mind. I agree that the Groove acquisition was a *great* move for M'Soft. Since they're trying to extend their reach both in search and in media, it makes a lot of sense since there needs to be a reconciliation on a per viewer basis for what you want, what you've got rights to, where you want it, and when you'll choose to access it (both online and off). And that's where we come in...
I do hope you can take a peek. All the best, Kimberley
